Holidays - On a Budget...& On the Road...

Cookie Mix Jar

Today I made a dozen gift jars - filled with Double Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix. See photo above. You fill & layer the jars with all the ingredients (except beaten egg, and butter), top with fabric & ribbons and add a tag with directions to add the egg & butter and baking. You can download the template for Xmas recipe cards for Word HERE. It's an Avery label template - that you can type on and print - 4 cards per page.

I used brand new canning jars I had on hand, leftover Christmas fabric from 1980's (Vintage now! LOL) ribbon and scrap paper from my craft stash, and my printer for the tags. Since the cost of our adoption and buying all the baby gear was HUGE we've cut way back on spending. I decided to skip Christmas cards this year (Sorry!) So our families are getting cookie mix this year! (And a new Grandson, Nephew, and/or Cousin Isaac for the new year!)

In two days, we make our big trek again - see last year's post : 1300+ Miles in 7 Days to visit family. We're leaving early Saturday and heading for Canada for a few days, then to Cincinnati from there, and back home. What a haul! And just like last year, the weather is supposed to be bad.

We have a winter storm warning in effect. We're expecting a blizzard/ice storm starting from 3pm today until about 12:00 noon tomorrow. They say we'll get about a foot of snow. Then it'll snow all day Saturday when we're on the road to Canada. YUCK! (I always think I should have my head checked--We should be headed South, not North!!)

I located a gal through our adoption agency who is traveling to Korea in the next month or so to bring her adopted child home - and they've agreed to carry a care package to Isaac for us. The package will go to Eastern Social Welfare and be given to Isaac's foster family. I'm going start getting some goodies together for this!

Two posts in one day! (See below -- Funny newspaper from Delhi India - from Mr. Hottie's travels).

I hope everyone has a wonderful, safe holiday. I know some of you are facing some tough situations this holiday...please know you are in my prayers....as are all the other waiting adoptive families. Hope you are able to find moments of peace and joy. ***HUGS***

Thanks to my trusty sidekick -- I'll be around Twitter, my Gmail and Text/Cell over the holidays....If ya need an ear...to vent...or a laugh. (Lord knows I'll probably need all those...lol)

I always say I'm gonna make those jars-but never do. Safe traveling! The snow has yet to hit in my neck of the woods.
