Is Nothing Sacred Anymore???

Yesterday Isaac and I packed our lunch and headed to the park. It was really overcast but in the high 60's....we had spring fever and just had to get out!

We walked the 2 mile walking path, and fed bread to some Canadian geese along the way. Isaac didn't know what to make of them at first, but then got really tickled when several of them started coming closer to beg for more. He kept looking and grinning, and saying DUH! (his word for Duck).

Soon a few raindrops fell as we finished the walking path, so we got our lunch out of the car and I parked him beside me in the stroller as I sat on the picnic tables and gave him a bottle. I ate my sandwich and began to feed him the butternut squash I made for him. (He doesn't seem to digest jar baby food very well - so I am making all of his food...steaming, chopping/mashing veggies etc. Boy eats better than I do! lol).

As we ate our lunch, another car pulled up along side of the picnic shelter. I didn't pay too much attention at first, because lots of cars come and go at this park. Many people come to walk, have lunch, play sports, etc. After a few minutes when no one got out...I glanced over....Drivers window is open...It didn't appear that anyone was in the car....maybe I missed them? Whatever...So I kept feeding Isaac and sipping my drink....minding my own business. A few minutes go by and I hear a noise...I look over, and it appears that there is a man in the car afterall, and he's kind of sprawling out across the front seats...hmmm. I try not to stare and keep feeding and talking to Isaac, finishing my lunch, etc....A cop car drives through the park slowly, patrolling....never noticing anyone/anything...just goes by....

Finally I hear both a man's and a woman's voice...and I glance over at this car again, and suddenly the man sits upright in the drivers seat, and a woman suddenly sits upright in the passenger seat. Hear the flick of a lighter....smell pot....they finished whatever they were doing (Grimace) and are now smoking a joint...they quickly put it out and peel out of the parking lot and leave.

Call me a prude if you want --- but do people just have absolutely no shred of self respect...respect for a child...or any decency whatsoever these days? I mean really!!!....aren't there a dozen other places they could go besides a park full of mothers and children during the day?

I wish I would've had a pen handy....I would've written down their license plate number and called the cops. That Barney Fife that cruises the park is totally oblivious to everything that goes on apparently. This is a really nice park, in a really nice town....full of families, daycare centers coming for activity outings....but fairly regularly, I see men sitting in trucks in this park who seem out of place....just sitting there. Not sure if they're just eating their lunch....or they're pervs...or stalkers or what. I think maybe I need to give old Barney a call. They need to do a bicycle patrol there and really be more aware of what is going on.....we have the right to enjoy a pervert-scumbag-free park in safety and happiness!

Take a vid cam next time and pretend to tape them (they are in a public place). Tell them to watch for it on YouTube...

If anything like this ever happens again (touch wood it won't!) put the license plate number on your phone. I'm sure you have a memo-thing on there, most phones do.
