Memoir: Not Impressed.

I recently upgraded my cell phone....my trusty old Sidekick finally started to die. The trackball was plain worn out from all my Tweets and texts.

So, I went last Saturday night and got a new phone. I was so excited, to try one of the new touch screen phones--the Samsung Memoir. It boasts a fabulous 8 megapixel camera, touch screen technology, music player, texting, applications and a 'super fast' web browser, etc etc...

Granted, I had to read all this myself. The salesman that worked there knew almost nothing about the products. I've called there today, and learned that he no longer works there. Surprise Surprise...

Any old Hoo,

Well, lemme tell ya. The camera isn't all that...most pics were so-so, some even kind of blurry. I didn't feel it was much better than most cell phone cameras. The touch screen is cool looking...but the virtual keyboard on this phone is awful. It doesn't 'flip' well, and often gets frozen...The web browsing is so slow, and quite frequently loses connectivity (never had this problem with Tmobile before on any phone, ever), the battery dies after just a couple hours...and there really aren't any applications for this phone. The email accounts just disappear after being set up multiple times (?? what the heck is the deal with that?) And the picture messaging capability they claim is so great...isn't. The functionality of this phone is awful, really. I hate it. I've been in Phone-Hell since last Saturday night when I got it.

So, I'm returning it tonite, and giving in and getting a Blackberry Curve. For about the same price, I hear it is way more reliable than that Memoir and there are way more applications available, and the keyboard will be much easier to use.
