This past weekend marked 6 months since we became a family in Seoul, South Korea and brought our precious son Isaac home to the USA.
Today marks 4 years since we moved from Lexington to the "Middle of Nowhere" IL. I have mixed emotions about this...as many of you know how much I miss Ky so badly, miss everyone 'back home' and would move back in a heartbeat. However...moving here lead Mr. Hottie and I down the path of adoption and to becoming a family, so I guess it was all meant to be. I am so blessed... I still cling to the dream, however, of someday moving back to Ky or to somewhere in the south...someday maybe!
Tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. we will be in court, finalizing our adoption. Yes, it will be official! With S. Korea, adoptions are finalized once the child has been home for 6 months. We will receive a birth certificate showing he was born in Korea, but that lists us as his parents. We will then begin the paperwork process to get his SS#, passport and a Certificate of Citizenship. That could take anywhere from 2-6 months...maybe more. But, ya know...whatever...he's here, he's ours, and technically a legal citizen...we won't stress over this part of the process! The stressful stuff is all behind us now!
Friday, we board an airplane as a family...heading to Florida. It will be the first time we've been on a plane with Isaac since the 14 hour flight home from Korea. Fortunately this flight is about 2 hours long. Hopefully he'll do okay, and the time goes quickly and we'll all have a really good time.
