Wow, it's been a lonnnng time since I did a Monday Poo-Pourri. Most of my posts lately are a mixed bag of random whatnot anyway....Anyway here goes...
Screw Me Over Fool Me Twice--Shame on Me, right? - Well for a 2nd time my ex employer has called me to come back to work, only to jack me around for weeks, and then finally let me know that "the Beast" will not be flexible with hours, therefore it won't work out for me to work the hours I need to be able to deal with Daycare. Screw 'em. I'm tired of playing her games.
**Been sending out a few resumes here and there, but honestly there aren't many jobs to go around in the Middle of Nowhere. So far, no luck.
**Enjoyed the annual "Unrehearsed Christmas Pageant" at church this weekend. They just hand out costumes and directions when everyone shows up and wing it. It's hilarious! The only manger scene you'll find with dogs (live and costumed), Minnie Mouse, Dinosaurs, etc. Hubby was elected as Joseph, and Isaac was the "Walk-in-Baby-Jesus"...lol. It was great!
**Took Isaac to see Santa Saturday evening. He was very wide-eyed, and wasn't sure what to think...but didn't cry. He sat on Santa's lap and visited while we took photos. Since he can't really talk, we told Santa that his (and our) wish this Christmas is for all orphan babies and children to find a loving family this year.
**Had to have an HVAC guy come out twice in the last week to repair our furnace. The first time he found an issue with the thermostat wiring and fixed it. Four days later we were starting to freeze again...So we paid the outrageous Sunday emergency call price, and he came again. This time he found the culprit---Whomever installed the furnace when the house was built (just a few years ago) left the paperwork taped to the furnace and just put it in. The paperwork was blocking the fan and causing the furnace to overheat and shut down. Thank GOD it never caught on fire all this time!! They also had the damper marked Open/Closed backwards and so it was partially closed. $300+some dollars later, it seems to be working much better! (and the builder went bankrupt last year and no longer exists, so there is no going back on them). Figures.
**Am voraciously reading up all of Jennifer Weiner's books. I still need to read "Little Earthquakes" and "In Her Shoes". I am waiting for soft cover on the new book "Best Friends Forever" (might be awhile) or for it to show up at the used bookstore. Why I never picked up her books sooner, I do not know! I can totally identify with the main character Kate from "Goodnight Nobody"...(hoping for a sequel!). Her books will make you laugh and cry. She's an amazing writer!
**Will be so glad when the Christmas hype is over...so that Isaac and I can resume our mall-walking, window-shopping, play-area visiting, and mommy/son lunch out. When it's cold outside, and you have no family/friends nearby, and live in the middle of nowhere, there isn't much else to go and do to escape the house!
What are your Christmas plans? Making lots of goodies? Any interesting news/stories to tell? Please share in comments!
