We have been decorating for Christmas and getting into the holiday spirit lately. I have been enjoying the weather - with 50-60 degree temps! We even had a day close to 70 degrees. That has passed and we will be in the 40's for the next week or so, but I'm just glad we've made it this far with no snow!
To say I don't like snow is putting it mildly. I hate snow… no, I loathe snow! I am so happy to not be in Chicagoland anymore where it wasn't unusual to get snow the first week of October…to easily get 1-2 feet of snow in a 24 hour period. I remember a week where it literally snowed every single day. It started out as 12" of snow and by weeks' end, we had almost 3 feet. I was in snow hell! LOL. If my husband wasn't Canadian, I'd probably have convinced him to move to somewhere below the Mason Dixon line by now…but he says he'll roast and melt! So for now - we are somewhere in between.
I've been finding some cute vintage things to add to our holiday decor and adding some framed vintage Christmas postcards and printables from Pinterest.
I have been trying to work on my Smashbook more lately and also decided to make a December Mini Book. I really can't commit to doing a true December Daily - because life with a child who has special needs is unpredictable, even with trying to have a daily routine or schedule. So my December Book is a combination smash/scrap/daily. Here are some photos of my foundation pages.
I took the cover off an old vintage book I got for $2 - and recycled it into my book cover. I made most of the pages for my mini book using chipboard sheets I had in my stash, or cardboard from cereal boxes (I am big on Recycle/Repurpose/Reuse theory!) I got most of my embellishments at a huge 70% off sale Michael's had one evening, or with coupons at Michaels and JoAnn Fabrics and Hobby Lobby. I am using a lot of free printables as well, and some vintage cards, bingo cards etc.
So far I've finished the cover and a couple pages inside. I have pictures and some stuff set aside, and am just going to work on it when I can. I am also sharing these photos on Instagram among other pictures I take of vintage stuff, etc. If you want to follow me - you can find me HERE. I am finding a ton of great, talented people to follow there!
I will post more once I've had a chance to finish the pages I'm working on. Do you do art journaling, smash books, day books or something like that? If so, leave a link to your blog or pictures. I love comparing notes, ideas, and sharing inspiration.
